Siro Severino Capsoni

Siro Severino CapsoniBaptized with the name of Giuseppe Antonio, he took, in the Dominican Order, the name of Siro Severino and performed, in the convent of Correggio and then in Bologna, his studies in philosophy and theology.

Back in Pavia, he served as librarian and historian of the Order and became prior of the Convent of St. Thomas.

He died May 27, 1796, accidentally killed during the sack of the city by the French.

Among his publications Memorie istoriche della regia città di Pavia e suo territorio antico e moderno (location: CPav. Storia 3) telling the history of  the city of Pavia, since the "first origin of the ancient Ticino" until the Rotari Edict (663).
